Holding wrong sides together, attach black in any edge stitch. Working through both thicknesses, sc around outside edge of bat. At pointed edges, work a sc, ch 1, sc. On the tight inside corners, use a single slip stitch.
(Optional) You may wish to slightly stuff the inside of the bat before you have crocheted all the way around to close the opening.

Sew eyes in place on head, with edges of eyes slightly extending beyond edge of head.

With yarn needle and your choice of brightly colored yarn, embroider the straight stitch accents on the wings.

If desired, sc around a plastic ring to cover, then sew this ring to the back of the head, positioned so that it does not show from the front.
