Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there on the internet. In the U.S. Mothers' Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It is a day when children honor their mothers with cards, gifts, and flowers. I hope you enjoy this page and it gives each and every child and adult an idea for celebrating Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is also great day to say to your Mom "Thank You" for all the love and caring she has given to you.

THINGS MOST MOTHER'S  TELL THEIR CHILDREN

rosemom.gif (157 bytes)

Always change your underwear;
you never know when you'll be in an accident.

rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Be careful or you'll put your eye out.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Don't put that in your mouth;
you don't know where it's been!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) What if everyone jumped off a cliff?
Would you do it, too?
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Close that door!
Were you born in a barn?
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Clean your plate;
there are starving children in China
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) You can get further with honey;
than you can with vinegar.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) If you can't say anything nice;
don't say anything at all
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Your ears are so dirty;
you can grow potatoes in them
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Clean your plate;
or no dessert
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Clean your room;
it looks like a cyclone hit it!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Are you going out in that?
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Don't say "hate."
Hate is a very strong word.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Never blow your own horn.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes)  Someday your face will freeze like that.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Money doesn't grow on trees.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Why? Because I said so, that's why!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes)  I hope someday when you have kids
they're just like you, then you'll know.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) I'm going to give you until the count of three!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) I would never have talked to my mother like that!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) It hurts me more than it hurts you.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) I'm not talking just to hear my own voice.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) Go ask your dad!
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) I'm not running a taxi service.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes) I love you!!

Mom does so much for you....why not help her out! Each week pick one chore you would help her with. Try to do it for one week. Just write your mom a promisory note that you will do one of the chores listed below. You can put each item below on a piece of paper (do the ones you really know how to do) and then draw one from a bowl or canister to help you decide which chore you should do for her each week!  She will greatly appreciate your help!

When the good Lord was creating Mothers,
he was into his sixth day of overtime
when an angel appeared and said,
"You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."
And the Lord said "Have you read the specifications on this order?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic.
Have 180 movable parts, all replaceable.
Run on black coffee and leftovers.
Have a lap that disappears when she stands up.
A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair.
And six pairs of hands.

rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)
" The angel shook her head slowly and said,
"Six pairs of hands? No way."
"It's not the hands that are causing me the problems,
" the Lord said, "It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."
"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.
The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,
"What are you kids doing in there?" when she already knows.
Another pair here in the back of her head to see what she shouldn't
but what she has to know, and, of course, the eyes here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say,
"I understand and I love you" without so much as uttering a word."
rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)
"Lord," said the angel, touching his sleeve gently, "come to bed."
"I can't," said the Lord.
"I'm so close to creating something so close to myself.
Already, I have one who heals herself when she is sick,
can feed a family of six on one pound of hanburger,
and get a 9-year-old to stand under a shower.
" The angel circled the model of the Mother very slowly.
"It's too soft," she sighed.
"But tough!" the Lord said excitedly.
"You cannot imagine what this Mother can do or endure."
"Can it think?"asked the angel.
"Not only think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.
rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)rosemom.gif (157 bytes)
Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the Mother's cheek.
"There's a leak," the angel said.
"I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model."
"It's not a leak," said the Lord.
"It's a tear."
"What's it for?" asked the angel.
"It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride."
"You are a genius," said the angel.
The Lord looked somber, and said "I didn't put it there."

GAME IDEAS

rosemom.gif (157 bytes)

Choose a student to begin. This student says, "My mother sent me to the supermarket to buy [a food item beginning with the letter "a"]. The next student repeats, "My mother sent me to the supermarket to buy [food item listed by previous student for the letter "a"]," then adds and [a food item beginning with the letter "b"]. Students progress through the alphabet, adding a new food item each term. Any student who forgets an item on the shopping list is out.

rosemom.gif (157 bytes)

Arrange students in large circle. Toss a ball to a student. This student must state one way in which he or she can show love for his or her mother. (i.e. "I can give her flowers.") Upon completion of sentence, student tosses ball to another student. Now this student must state a way in which he or she can demonstrate love for his or her mother.  Any student who repeats a suggestion previously made or who fails to think of an idea within fifteen seconds is out. Note: Encourage students to act on their ideas!

Each person is given one minute to give as many reasons as possible why his or her mother is the best mother in the world.

The next thing that I'd like to share with you is this letter that could have been written to any mother.  If only I had a mother to write it to and if only I had written it.

rosemom.gif (157 bytes)Dear Momrosemom.gif (157 bytes)

You were there when we took our first steps
And went unsteadily across the floor
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided
Until our steps took us out the door...
You worry now "Are they ok?"
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder"Where have my children gone?"
Where we are is where you have led us
With your special love you showed us a way
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day
And where we go you can be sure
In spirit you shall never be alone
For where you are is what matters most to us
Because to us that will always be home...

When I was eight years old I was in a play at school.  I sang the following song:  I got a standing ovation for this song but my true mother was not there.

                                         M is for the million things you gave me

                                         O is just that you are growing old

                                         T is for the tears you shed to save me

                                         H is for your heart as pure as gold

                                         E is for your eyes with love light shining

                                         R is right and right you'll always be

Put them all toghether they spell MOTHER a word that means the world to me.

AND..............AGAIN

Here is another M O T H E R and the meaning of each letter in the word

                                         M is for a messenger relaying God's word

                                         O is for the outpouring of genuine love

                                         T is for the trusts in God who loves us

                                         H is for the heart on things above

                                         E is for the earthly saint who's living

                                         R is for a rescuer of wrongdoers

Put them all toghether they spell MOTHER another word that means the world to me.
