HAPPY
MOTHER'S DAY

Created by: "SassyLD1"
Happy Mother's Day to
all the mommies out there on the internet. In
the U.S. Mothers' Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It is a day
when children honor their mothers with cards, gifts, and flowers. I hope you enjoy this
page and it gives each and every child and adult an idea for celebrating Mother's Day.
Mother's Day is also great day to say to your Mom
"Thank You" for all the love and caring she has given to you.

THINGS MOST MOTHER'S TELL THEIR
CHILDREN

MOTHER'S HELPER

Moms
When the good Lord was
creating Mothers,
he was into his sixth day of overtime
when an angel appeared and said,
"You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."
And the Lord said "Have you read the specifications on this order?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic.
Have 180 movable parts, all replaceable.
Run on black coffee and leftovers.
Have a lap that disappears when she stands up.
A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair.
And six pairs of hands.

" The angel shook her head
slowly and said,
"Six pairs of hands? No way."
"It's not the hands that are causing me the problems,
" the Lord said, "It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."
"That's on the standard model?" asked the angel.
The Lord nodded. "One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks,
"What are you kids doing in there?" when she already knows.
Another pair here in the back of her head to see what she shouldn't
but what she has to know, and, of course, the eyes here in front that can look at a child
when he goofs up and say,
"I understand and I love you" without so much as uttering a word."

"Lord," said the
angel, touching his sleeve gently, "come to bed."
"I can't," said the Lord.
"I'm so close to creating something so close to myself.
Already, I have one who heals herself when she is sick,
can feed a family of six on one pound of hanburger,
and get a 9-year-old to stand under a shower.
" The angel circled the model of the Mother very slowly.
"It's too soft," she sighed.
"But tough!" the Lord said excitedly.
"You cannot imagine what this Mother can do or endure."
"Can it think?"asked the angel.
"Not only think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and
ran her finger across the Mother's cheek.
"There's a leak," the angel said.
"I told you that you were trying to put too much into this model."
"It's not a leak," said the Lord.
"It's a tear."
"What's it for?" asked the angel.
"It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness and pride."
"You are a genius," said the angel.
The Lord looked somber, and said "I didn't put it there."

GAME IDEAS
 |
Choose a student to begin. This student
says, "My mother sent me to the supermarket to buy [a food item beginning with the
letter "a"]. The next student repeats, "My mother sent me to the
supermarket to buy [food item listed by previous student for the letter
"a"]," then adds and [a food item beginning with the letter
"b"]. Students progress through the alphabet, adding a new food item each
term. Any student who forgets an item on the shopping list is out.
|
 |
Arrange students in large
circle. Toss a ball to a student. This student must state one way in which he or she
can show love for his or her mother. (i.e. "I can give her flowers.") Upon
completion of sentence, student tosses ball to another student. Now this student must
state a way in which he or she can demonstrate love for his or her mother.
Any student who repeats a suggestion previously made or who fails to think of an
idea within fifteen seconds is out. Note: Encourage students to act on their ideas! |
 |
Each person is given one
minute to give as many reasons as possible why his or her mother is the best mother
in the world. |

GIFT IDEAS TO MAKE FOR MOM'S

The next thing that I'd like to share with you
is this letter that could have been written to any mother. If only I had a mother to
write it to and if only I had written it.
Dear Mom
You were there when we took our first steps
And went unsteadily across the floor
You pushed and prodded: encouraged and guided
Until our steps took us out the door...
You worry now "Are they ok?"
Is there more you could have done?
As we walk the paths of our unknown
You wonder"Where have my children gone?"
Where we are is where you have led us
With your special love you showed us a way
To believe in ourselves and the decisions we make
Taking on the challenge of life day-to-day
And where we go you can be sure
In spirit you shall never be alone
For where you are is what matters most to us
Because to us that will always be home...

When I was eight years old I was in a play at
school. I sang the following song: I got a standing ovation for this song but
my true mother was not there.
M is for the million things you gave me
O is just that you are growing old
T is for the tears you shed to save me
H is for your heart as pure as gold
E is for your eyes with love light shining
R is right and right you'll always be
Put them all toghether they spell MOTHER a
word that means the world to me.

AND..............AGAIN
Here is another M O T H E R and the meaning
of each letter in the word
M is for a messenger relaying God's word
O is for the outpouring of genuine love
T is for the trusts in God who loves us
H is for the heart on things above
E is for the earthly saint who's living
R is for a rescuer of wrongdoers
Put them all toghether they spell MOTHER
another word that means the world to me.
